Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou
The town of Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou lies approx. 13 kilometres away from Třebíč town near the nature reserve of the Rokytná River. The town, which is accessible on the railway, is crossed by a hiking trail and a cycleway. The town is rich in cultural heritage. The historical centre is declared the protected municipal zone. The most important monument is the baroque castle of Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou (listed as a national monument under protection) with a French garden and an English park. The castle houses collections of period musical instruments, furniture and paintings. It belongs to the largest architectural assemblies from the early 18th century in this country and in Europe. An equally valuable and integral part of the castle complex is the Decanal Church of St. Margaret built in the style of high Baroque.
Other architectural sights are the Hospital and Chapel of St. Catharine, which had existed already before 1382, the Chapel of St. Joseph (1701), the Column of the Holy Trinity from 1716 or the nearby hexagonal fountain from 1718.
In the town you can also visit the Museum of Otokar Březina (Czech poet), which has been located in his birth house since 1931. Since 1999, the well-known International Music Festival of Peter Dvorský has been held here.
