Raabs
Raabs an der Thaya (Raabs upon the Thaya River, in Czech: the Dyje River) is a town with three thousand inhabitants in the Waldviertel region in the Land of Niederösterreich (Lower Austria) at the confluence of the Moravian Danube and the Austrian Danube. In the Middle Ages, the county of Raabs was translated into Czech as “Rakousko” which is today’s name of the whole territory of Austria (actually the country beyond Raabs).
The sights of the town are a well preserved medieval Raabs castle built on a rock high above the town, the ruins of the Eibenstein castle, the ruins of the Kollmitz castle and a museum of national history.
